Comment 5 Glauber 2006-12-28 05:29:10 UTC
I guess it should be used the (now) masked media-video/gspcav1 until gspca v4l2
is not finished.
The ebuild works fine just changing the date in the file as
gspcav1-20061216.ebuild.
The problem with media-video/gspca is that the S variable inside the ebuild must be setted by hand. I think that when gspca v4l2 is finished, the S variable will have to be changed again. Maybe, if they make tar.gz pack as in gspca-1.0.11.tar.gz, the ebuild from media-video/gspcav1 will work just changing it's name and version; maybe not, but then the S variable will be created by hand just one time (I guess the actual source dir inside the developers' tar.gz file may change).

I completely agree. I opened a version bump bug, see bug #159126. I'm happy to reopen this bug, as it's been closed with a wrong reason.

Please forgive me, but why invest so much time in 01.00.10, if the current version of gspca is 01.00.11?

Because 01.00.11 is not in the tree at this moment...

May be better try to bump to 01.00.11 :-/

Uhm, and so you work on something useless which will be superceded quite soon?

Okay, not my time wasted *G*

My point: .11 should've been in the tree for quite some time now and IMO time would've been better spent on getting .11 in the tree instead of working on .10.

> May be better try to bump to 01.00.11 :-/

1.00.12 is out. Because of the IMO stupid decision to name this package gspca and deprecate gspcav1 in the tree, it's harder than necessary to bump to .11 or .12.

Yep. Or even better: bug #159126.

I made a mistake masking gspcav1. please use that instead. media-video/gspca is still alpha code.
