pipe, '<'  and '>'  keys do not work with german keyboard layout on Xfree 4.2.99.4 

My keyboard settings:
    Option "XkbRules"   "xfree86"
    Option "XkbModel"   "pc104"
    Option "XkbLayout"  "de"

They worked for the previous version (4.2.1)

This bug seems to be the same as this one:
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15183

I will try "pc105" when i come home next week.
On german keyboards the '<' '>'and '|' characters are on a single key next to the 'y' key (QWERTZ), so it seems to be the same key.
