iptables-1.2.7a-r2 installs man-pages in /man/man8/* That really can't be good.
what about 1.2.7a-r3 ? that one sticks em in /usr/share/man/man8/ ...
Maybe so, but iptables-1.2.7a-r3 appears to be masked/unstable. iptables-1.2.7a-r2 is the latest "stable" iptables, but dumping man-pages in /man is not very stable behaviour.
you missed the point of my question if -r3 works then we can back port the changes made in -r3 to -r2 can you confirm -r3 installs the man pages in the correct location ?
Yes, I missed the point. And yes, I can confirm that sys-apps/iptables-1.2.7a-r3 installs the man-pages in /usr/share/man.
