There's new version of UFO: AI Would be nice to have ebuild for it http://ufo.myexp.de/?id=downloads
Any idea if this fixes bug #44341? We generally don't add any betas (where we can help it) if there's a chance of a final coming soon, but I would definitely add this one if it resolves that bug.
i can see a snd_alsa.c in http://svn.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.cgi/ufoai/ufoai/trunk/src/linux/ i guess it means that there is or there will be alsa support in ufo:ai :] maybe it is already in techbeta2 (0.12_beta1)
Well, it would be nice to have an ebuild for it, but I am unable to get it working - the version from installer complains about missing things even if I have symlinks every here and there (not to mention that the solution in forum does not work for me ...), while today's svn version does not complain, but it ends: [...] LoadLibrary("./ref_sdl.so") reset ref_gl version: GL 0.12 ... and that's all, I am back at the commandline :-/ So I am looking forward for an ebuild which will solve all these things for me ;-)
so ... meanwhile I became an active developer of UFO-AI (well, just translating :-) and I have to say that the game is not ready to be included in portage the demo build has some problems (see my previous comment) that are fixed in svn but there are other critical things broken (the current revision at the time of writing this - 639 - does not even compile) another major catch is that a lot of media is still not available in svn, so you have to extract them from the demo package but you do not know which files to use and where to put them (unless you would study the sources ...) so, my conclusion is to be patient and to wait for a few months - I don't want to be too much optimistic but I see a bunch of changes in svn every day and my posts got attention (and the problems were fixed) nearly immediately, so it is possible that we may soon expect a fully playable version ...
Ok, I'll mark it LATER. reopen when it's further along. Thanks.
Newer version is in portage

Should have been WONTFIX
(In reply to comment #8) > Should have been WONTFIX well, I'd rather consider it FIXED as 2.2.1 is in portage, albeit masked
