During configure....

checking for GIMP - version >= 1.2.0... no
*** Could not run GIMP test program, checking why...

quick look at the config.log shows that it was looking in
/usr/local/include/libgimp/

I have Gimp 1.2.3-r3 installed. Using GCC 3.2.1 with flags: -march=athlon -O3
-pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -falign-functions=4 -fforce-addr -fprefetch-loop-arrays
