Description Daniel Webert 2005-11-09 11:26:09 UTC
net-news/liferea-1.0_rc3 mozilla-useflag-confusion

the inline htmlviewer does not work when installed w/ useflag +firefox +mozilla
-gtkhtml, www-client/mozilla-firefox-1.0.7-r2, liferea-1.0_rc3 and not installed
www-client/mozilla-n.n -> because it needs mozilla for the rendering, the
firefox is just used for ext.surfing

the problem is: actived +firefox-useflag 'deactivates' the mozilla-depend.

the liferea-faq says
<snip>
Q: The Mozilla browser module doesn't work for me!
A: You need the full Mozilla suite to run the Mozilla module. Firefox doesn't
work for that purpose. Note that you can have both installed, browse the web
with Firefox and use Mozilla just as Liferea's module

What you have posted from the FAQ seems to be outdated. Here's what the README
states:

"If you want to use the Mozilla browser module you need a Mozilla installation
containing libgtkembedmoz.so. Every up-to-date Firefox should bring it."

An even better way to find out that liferea in fact can be built against Firefox
is looking at the configure file, where you can find the following (you could
also find that out by looking at the ebuild):

--enable-gecko=ARG specify which Gecko provider to use ("mozilla" or "firefox")

Seems your problem lies somewhere else.

Hi Daniel! Are you still running into this problem or have things gotten better for you with new versions of Liferea?
Comment 4 Daniel Webert 2006-03-10 06:49:39 UTC
jep prob still exist w/ 1.0.4

installed are
net-news/liferea-1.0.4 USE="firefox mozilla -gtkhtml"
net-libs/gecko-sdk-1.7.12-r1
www-client/mozilla NOT installed

# locate libgtkembedmoz
/usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/libgtkembedmoz.so
/usr/lib/gecko-sdk/lib/libgtkembedmoz.so

i can select the internal browser to mozilla but i dont see text in the "browserwindow"
Comment 5 Daniel Webert 2006-03-10 07:08:33 UTC
testing ...

installed w/ gtkhtml
net-news/liferea-1.0.4 USE="firefox mozilla GTKHTML"

selecting NOW the internal browser to gtkhtml2 and i SEE text in the
"browserwindow"

i'm sure that if i install www-client/mozilla and select internal browser mozilla that it works also - gonna test that now

but in the end i wanna use the firefox /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/libgtkembedmoz.so for rendering ...
