Musescore overrides default QT fonts with its own preferences and doesn't provide elegant fall-back. Looking at strace it seems it probably needs more fonts like media-fonts/dejavu but I didn't check it. Anyway, Musescore installed without freefont package doesn't show any text in "Open" dialog. Only rectangles appear. After installing freefont, dialog looks normally. No other QT apps were affected by this problem. is 4.3.2 still affected?
Yes, it seems so. However I tried it on another machine and I couldn't reproduce it. Apparently I have somewhere probably changed the default font, but I'm not even sure where. The box which is affected has an Xfce desktop with only minimal QT libs. The other one has more things installed, including some of the KDE libraries and a Wayland+sway WM. I'm not sure why the bug appears only on one machine, maybe on the other I have other font installed which gets selected.
