Forgot to mention, this is all using the 2004.3 versions of the livecds.

could you please validate this is still the case with the xserve kernel on http://dev.gentoo.org/~tgall/2005.0/install-ppc64-g5-minimal-2005.0-update1.iso.bz2
alrighyt, I'm going to mark this bug as fixed. I've had two reports of success with the named livecd in the previous comment.
