good news: is active again https://bugs.gentoo.org/634300
Comment 3 James Rowe 2017-10-30 18:25:18 UTC
Welp, I guess I'm out.

As mentioned in #634300, my ISP doesn't seem to like me cloning the gentoo/gentoo
repo. I've tried a few times over the past week, and each time I'm met with a
timeout after an super slow initial transfer.
Comment 4 Jonas Stein gentoo-dev 2017-11-02 13:00:06 UTC
If this is really the only problem, I think it should be solvable with our help. You find us on IRC, freenode, #gentoo-proxy-maint.

However, if you are sure, that you want to retire, please confirm this here once more and we will remove your contact from the packages.
Comment 5 James Rowe 2017-11-27 12:54:14 UTC
Three weeks later, and the problems weren't just intermittent. I don't expect to
be in a position to use another network until at least the new year, so go ahead
and retire me.

[Jonas: Thanks for old-schooling the ipkg-utils update in the mean time.]

Hey,

I was wondering if you're still around? No worries, everything seems to be fine with your packages, but since we haven't heard from you in a long time, we're curious if you still use Gentoo and wish to maintain packages in its main repository?
Comment 7 James Rowe 2021-02-22 14:50:48 UTC
Sorry if I wasn't clear in the 2017 replies, but I should be retired. Given the interaction back then I just lost interest, and subsequently moved on. I could have, and should have, been clearer about that in this public record.

Looking back we had a good run though, and it was a lot of fun for me!

Thank you very much for your reply! You'll always be welcome back if you rediscover your interest.
