My .config

Hello,

recently I upgraded my kernel from the last stable one to the new stable one (gentoo-sources-4.0.5).

Everything works fine except the four little penguins on the left upper corner at the boot process. They are gone.

The new kernel .config was generated from the old one by "make oldconfig" and I use the intel framebuffer with KMS. Also using the newest kernel (4.1.3) does not bring them back.

I confirm that. Not even noticed but looked at my config which is quite similar that Gerold's one.

Same problem for gentoo-sources 4.1.6 and hardened-sources-4.1.6

@merlin: Do you also use the intel framebuffer? Especially: Do you use the kernel option described in https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Intel#Kernel ?

If not, which framebuffer do you use?

the problem is still alive with all stable kernels since my post and also with the actual stable kernels (hardened-sources-4.8x & gentoo-sources-4.9x).

I hate that we never solved this. 
Can you post your most recent .config file where you still don't see the logo ?

Hi,  I see you are using inteldrmfb.

I did find this:

"To get the penguin logo on boot, you will need the vga=XXX to select a graphics mode that can support the penguin logo.

On my netbook with a 1024x600 screen that uses the i915 driver, I have the vga=789 line in /etc/lilo.conf as well as "video=inteldrmfb:mode=1024x600" as a kernel option in the "append =" string."
