^c during layman aborts just the currently started process (i.e. one repository update) but layman goes on. In order to abort layman, right now you have to press ^c in the very short moment between spawning processes for two overlays. This is very inconvenient when updating a lot of overlays.
I added a quick fix on the HEAD of the git repo, it'll be added in the next release :)
