sorry for interrupting does gnome 3.8 require systemd now? is this the purpose of this bug to remove the dependency on systemd? thank you
(In reply to Darko Luketic from comment #2) > sorry for interrupting > does gnome 3.8 require systemd now? > is this the purpose of this bug to remove the dependency on systemd? > thank you Unfortunately, several core gnome-3.8 packages require systemd. This is a hard requirement; basically, the only way to avoid it would be to fork a large part of systemd, rewrite other parts to work on top of openrc, and maintain that indefinitely, always chasing new features in systemd upstream - and a small distro like Gentoo doesn't have the resources to do it. At the moment, systemd is keyworded only for amd64, x86, and arm. So we had to remove arches from gnome-3.8's keyword list. And the purpose of this bug is to remember to readd keywords to gnome after systemd is tested and keyworded everywhere.
ppc done
For ia64 will be nearly impossible to ketword systemd due unresolved glibc bug #480218 :/
Maybe keywords on Gnome packages should start to be dropped from ia64, sparc and alpha :/ (like hppa did in the past)
alpha is finally ready :)
ia64 was done
sparc done
