Description Kevin O'Gorman 2005-10-23 15:20:05 UTC
The first time I started OpenOffice 2.0, I get at least one error dialog.

Example contents: Error loading BASIC of document
file:///opt/OpenOffice.org/share/basic/WebWizard/script.xlb/:
General Error.
General input/output error

Also one with dialog.xlb instead of script.xlb

This happened with the beta versions too, but I ignored it.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Just start it up. But it has to be the first time.
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Got error dialog. I can make it go away, but it shouldn't be there

Expected Results:
Just start.
Comment 1 Kevin O'Gorman 2005-10-23 16:46:12 UTC
Hmm. It turns out the dialogs appear later too, apparently when OO is deciding
to save the file automatically. It does not happen when I save it by menu
command.
Comment 2 Kenyon Ralph 2005-10-23 19:45:58 UTC
This happened for me after I did Save As and closed the File Properties dialog,
in addition to the original report.

I assume you have been transfering you user settings from 1.1.x and are using
openoffice-bin, right? Just remove the ooo-2.0-dir again and when starting
choose NOT to transfer you personal settings, it sometimes does not work
correctly, unfortunately
Comment 4 Kenyon Ralph 2005-10-23 23:22:55 UTC
Seems to have fixed it for me, thanks.

It's always a good idea to do a new user install, when upgrading OOo, closing this

Gosh so many duplicates, haha. One of them is mine. And I think I know why. The Summary of this bug is not descriptive enough. I know I searched before posting my bug, and if I had seen this bug summary --and I'm assuming I did-- I would have thought it was referring to another openoffice bug.

The dialog appears more often that just on the first time of execution. This is discussed in the comments, but the summary, which is what shows in the search results, doesn't indicate so.

Just my 2 cents.

Comment 13 David Fellows 2006-01-02 07:35:12 UTC
I disagree with the resolution "INVALID". This is a valid bug against openoffice. OpenOffice is intended for end-users. The default action on starting the upgraded version is to migrate personal data. (the Transfer personal data check box is pre-checked.) Any reasonable end user, especially one who had customised their 1.1.5 openoffice would choose to accept that. They are hence blessed with an infinite sequence of harmless but annoying error dialogs. I doubt that that was the intention of the openoffice development team. Hence it is a bug. Probably not one that should be fixed by the gentoo ooo team, but one that should be passed upstream. Ie, I could accept "Won't fix" as a resolution.

For the record, the least disruptive workaround for this bug is for each user affected to use a text editor to edit the files:

   ~/.ooo-2.0/user/basic/dialog.xlc
   ~/.ooo-2.0/user/basic/script.xlc

and delete the line containing WebWizard in each case.

It might be appropriate to add an ewarn message describing the problem and referencing this bug to the ebuild(s) pkg_postinst() function.
Comment 14 Horst Schirmeier 2006-01-04 06:50:49 UTC
I completely agree with David (comment #13). This _is_ a bug, maybe even one that can be fixed within the ebuild until the OO.org team clears this upstream. "INVALID" is invalid. ;-)
Comment 15 Emmanuel Rosa 2006-01-04 12:15:00 UTC
I looked in /usr/lib/openoffice/presets/basic/script.xlc, but I think that's used if the user does not migrate oo.org 1.1 settings, because the file is completely different. I couldn't find the one that has the WebWizard lines. If it's there, fixing it in the ebuild would be a piece of cake. But I have a feeling it's generated.
