get the following error trying to emerge libcaca:

Expected Results:  
>>> media-libs/libcaca-0.9-r1 merged.

This is a fresh build of linux-2.6.12-gentoo-r6. Error was first hit when 
emerge of libcaca was attempted during `emerge gnome` [with libcaca in USE 
flags]. Same error results when attempting to `emerge libcaca` alone.
