Certain ebuilds fail with the above error after quite some warnings from aclocal. I emerge --sync'ed, then emerge -Duv world. No problem in the beginning, the first 30 or so ebuilds worked fine, then came gnome-spell, which didn't even start compiling but failed with the above error.
