Description Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-17 15:52:45 UTC
find: /usr/share/icons/gnome/16x16/apps: Permission denied
find: /usr/share/icons/gnome/32x32/apps: Permission denied
find: /usr/share/icons/gnome/48x48/apps: Permission denied

Only accessible by root, only OOo icons, no Gnome stuff in these directores.
Comment 1 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-17 15:55:13 UTC
Oh, the same with /usr/share/icons/HighContrast and the subsequent directories.
Comment 2 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-18 01:04:37 UTC
Can't reproduce this. I had the same problem with other icon dirs in the past,
so I think this is a local problem. Just correct the permissions and try again.
Comment 3 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-18 06:28:21 UTC
I uninstalled OOo, which removed the mentioned directories, too and reinstalled
afterwards - same problem. Please note, that only the directories are affected,
not the files.

Comment 5 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-18 07:08:47 UTC
Did you remove the dir inbetween or correct the permissions?
Comment 6 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-18 07:28:26 UTC
I did not, they were removed during unmerging. The attached subtree is from
/var/tmp/portage/openoffice-bin-1.9.109/image btw.
Comment 7 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-21 13:25:32 UTC
same with openoffice-bin-1.9.118
Comment 8 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-21 16:06:59 UTC
As I still can't reproduce that problem, just to make sure: After an unmerge
there was no trace of this dirs left (or maybe an upper level dir which has
wrong permissions)?

/usr/share/icons/gnome/16x16/apps
/usr/share/icons/gnome/32x32/apps
/usr/share/icons/gnome/48x48/apps

Sorry for asking such stupid questions, just want to make sure ;)
Comment 9 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-21 16:19:31 UTC
> Sorry for asking such stupid questions, just want to make sure ;)

He, I'm familiar with such situations. :) Exactly, no trace left. But please
ignore the bug for now. It's not a biggie, the version is hard masked iirc and
if it's still an issue with the final, I probably take a look at it. Don't want
to force you, just track the problem.
Comment 10 Paul de Vrieze (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-08-25 07:03:29 UTC
Could this be an umask problem? Maybe the installer forgets to set the umask
prior to installing and uses the restrictive umask from the root user.
Comment 11 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-09-10 01:10:40 UTC
Added a workaround to the ebuild after I've been bitten by that nasty bug myself ;)
