Twisted 2.0.1 is now out. This is a minor release, only including bugfixes
since 2.0.0. One of the most important fixes was a bug causing many gtk GUI apps
to crash. Twisted News is now properly included in the Sumo release. Enjoy.

My overlay in bug 80639 has an ebuild for 2.0.1. Copying the ebuild in the tree
will probably work too.

This patch enables jellying of new style classes in python

Apply with:
cd /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/twisted/spread
patch jelly.py /mydir/jelly.patch

This patch is necessary for exe project ebuild:
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=95410

Also this patch just changes 2.0.0 and 2.0.1 versions of jelly.py into the svn
version.

What is holding back twisted 2.0.1 from entering the gentoo tree as
unstable/testing?
Comment 7 Alastair Tse (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-03 12:06:55 UTC
just lack of man power and the lead maintainer of this package being inactive for a while. will look at it
along with twisted 2.1.0

I really want this package up to date.
If lack of man power, should we write some advertises in GWN or gentoo forum?

What can I do for this package?
Write a ebuild? or do sth. test?
Comment 9 Alastair Tse (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-06 07:06:32 UTC
the best way to help is to test marian's overlay and report and success or bugs with it. thanks :)

if it works well, then it'll definitely help getting those into the tree.
Comment 10 Scott 2005-11-07 03:02:18 UTC
I had time to look at the whole twisted packages tonight. All the old ebuilds
work if you update the respective uri's.
ex.
http://tmrc.mit.edu/mirror/twisted/Conch/0.6/
http://tmrc.mit.edu/mirror/twisted/Web/0.5/
http://tmrc.mit.edu/mirror/twisted/Names/0.2/
http://tmrc.mit.edu/mirror/twisted/Words/0.3/

These were all tested against twisted core 2.1.0.
The dependencies in the ebuilds *may* need raised from 2.0.0.

Additionaly I've created an ebuild for twisted-web2-0.1.
