Since k3b-0.12.x, if I add a file to an audio cd and then I try to play it through it, k3b goes gracefully down and displays a crash window. This happens whether it is an mp3, an ogg, a wav... I thought it was arts-related, but disabling the sound server (and double-checking it isn't in execution thereafter) yelds no improvement. From cmdline, sox works like a charm, and I thought that k3b used just that to play audio. A partly unrelated issue: although I've the "mp3" use flag enabled, I can _encode_ in mp3, but if I try to add an mp3 to an audio cd, it is returned an error that says it is an unrecognized format. Wasn't the patent issue the other way round? :-p Anyway, do you have any suggestion, or have I to open another bug? Thanks. ----------- Portage 2.0.51.22-r1 (default-linux/x86/2005.0, gcc-3.4.4, glibc-2.3.5-r0, 2.6.12-gentoo-r4 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.12-gentoo-r4 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.6.12 distcc 2.18.3 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] dev-lang/python: 2.4.1-r1 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.10 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.18-r1 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O3 -march=pentium4 -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/bind /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/splash /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O3 -march=pentium4 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://pandemonium.tiscali.de/pub/gentoo/ http://pandemonium.tiscali.de/pub/gentoo/ http://gentoo.eliteitminds.com" LC_ALL="it_IT.UTF-8" LINGUAS="it" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X aalib alsa apache2 apm arts avi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts bonobo cdr crypt cups curl dga directfb doc dvd eds emacs emboss encode fam fbcon flac foomaticdb fortran gd gdbm gif gnome gpm gtk gtk2 gtkhtml guile imagemagick imap imlib ipv6 jack java jpeg junit kde ldap libg++ libwww mad maildir mbox mikmod mmx motif mp3 mpeg mysql nas ncurses nls nptl odbc ogg oggvorbis opengl oss pam pcmcia pdflib perl png python qt quicktime readline samba sasl sdl slang speex spell sse sse2 ssl svga tcltk tcpd tetex tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode vorbis xine xml xml2 xmms xv zlib video_cards_i915 linguas_it userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LANG, LDFLAGS
Can you post the output of ldd /usr/bin/k3b? Apart from that, it would be useful to have a backtrace of the crash. The mp3 problem was already reported here: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49298 but we could never reproduce it and I thought it disappeared in newer versions...
Ok, I'm recompiling k3b with debug infos. I'll attach a backtrace as soon as I'll get it. matteo@tulip ~ $ ldd /usr/bin/k3b linux-gate.so.1 => (0xffffe000) libk3bdevice.so.2 => /usr/lib/libk3bdevice.so.2 (0xb7fb5000) libk3b.so.1 => /usr/lib/libk3b.so.1 (0xb7e21000) libsamplerate.so.0 => /usr/lib/libsamplerate.so.0 (0xb7e05000) libgcc_s.so.1 => /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.4/libgcc_s.so.1 (0xb7dfc000) libkparts.so.2 => /usr/kde/3.4/lib/libkparts.so.2 (0xb7db8000) libkio.so.4 => /usr/kde/3.4/lib/libkio.so.4 (0xb7a86000) libkdeui.so.4 => /usr/kde/3.4/lib/libkdeui.so.4 (0xb77b6000) libkdesu.so.4 => /usr/kde/3.4/lib/libkdesu.so.4 (0xb779d000) libkwalletclient.so.1 => /usr/kde/3.4/lib/libkwalletclient.so.1 (0xb778c000) libkdecore.so.4 => /usr/kde/3.4/lib/libkdecore.so.4 (0xb754c000) libDCOP.so.4 => /usr/kde/3.4/lib/libDCOP.so.4 (0xb7518000) libresolv.so.2 => /lib/libresolv.so.2 (0xb74e0000) libutil.so.1 => /lib/libutil.so.1 (0xb74db000) libart_lgpl_2.so.2 => /usr/lib/libart_lgpl_2.so.2 (0x41d1b000) libidn.so.11 => /usr/lib/libidn.so.11 (0xb74ab000) libkdefx.so.4 => /usr/kde/3.4/lib/libkdefx.so.4 (0xb747f000) libqt-mt.so.3 => /usr/qt/3/lib/libqt-mt.so.3 (0xb6d95000) libaudio.so.2 => /usr/lib/libaudio.so.2 (0xb6d80000) libXt.so.6 => /usr/lib/libXt.so.6 (0xb6d26000) libmng.so.1 => /usr/lib/libmng.so.1 (0xb6cc8000) libjpeg.so.62 => /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.62 (0x414f0000) libXi.so.6 => /usr/lib/libXi.so.6 (0xb6cc0000) libXrandr.so.2 => /usr/lib/libXrandr.so.2 (0xb6cbc000) libXcursor.so.1 => /usr/lib/libXcursor.so.1 (0xb6cb2000) libXft.so.2 => /usr/lib/libXft.so.2 (0xb6c9d000) libfontconfig.so.1 => /usr/lib/libfontconfig.so.1 (0x41492000) libfreetype.so.6 => /usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6 (0x413d9000) libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0xb6c99000) libpng.so.3 => /usr/lib/libpng.so.3 (0xb6c61000) libXext.so.6 => /usr/lib/libXext.so.6 (0xb6c50000) libX11.so.6 => /usr/lib/libX11.so.6 (0xb6b7c000) libSM.so.6 => /usr/lib/libSM.so.6 (0xb6b73000) libICE.so.6 => /usr/lib/libICE.so.6 (0xb6b5b000) libpthread.so.0 => /lib/libpthread.so.0 (0xb6b49000) libXrender.so.1 => /usr/lib/libXrender.so.1 (0xb6b41000) libz.so.1 => /lib/libz.so.1 (0xb6b30000) libfam.so.0 => /usr/lib/libfam.so.0 (0xb6b26000) libmusicbrainz.so.4 => /usr/lib/libmusicbrainz.so.4 (0x494fc000) libexpat.so.0 => /usr/lib/libexpat.so.0 (0x41464000) libstdc++.so.6 => /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.4/libstdc++.so.6 (0xb6a5c000) libm.so.6 => /lib/libm.so.6 (0xb6a39000) libc.so.6 => /lib/libc.so.6 (0xb690f000) libXau.so.6 => /usr/lib/libXau.so.6 (0xb690b000) /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb7fdb000) libstdc++.so.5 => /usr/lib/libstdc++-v3/libstdc++.so.5 (0x430a6000)
The output of ldd shows a problem: you switched to gcc 3.4 but there are dependencies still compiled with gcc 3.3 and this leads to troubles. See bug 61146 for more infos. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 61146 ***
