Description James Ashley 2005-07-03 10:28:11 UTC
Just tried to emerge gimp-2.2.6-r1 (an update from 2.0.4). The configure phase failed with:

checking for XML::Parser... configure: error: XML::Parser perl module is required for intltool
(This was just after it located my perl installation)

The USE flags that show up with an emerge -vp gimp:
-aalib (-altivec) -debug -doc -gimpprint -gtkhtml +jpeg -mmx -mng +png +python -sse +svg +tiff -wmf

I emerged XML-Parser and it got past that point. It's building now, so I don't know if it will actually work, but this explains that problem. (i.e. it relies on the XML-Parser ebuild, but doesn't realize it).

It seems that should be an easy fix (and an easy problem to miss). I'd send a patch myself if I had the foggiest notion how ebuilds work. (Yes, I need to learn. My problem is a lack of time).

please search closed bugs as well before posting, this is a highly duped bug.
