Do you have any idea what could be the cause of this?
Maybe you should report it to acrobat, as they provide the pkg binary-only.

Output from strace acroread

I wish I knew what the strace-dump implies...
Comment 3 Jason McGuiness 2005-07-16 04:35:23 UTC
No idea what the cause is... My *nix debugging skills are based around compiling
source files with debug info, so gdb doesn't help with this, so I'm not much
help... It crashes on startup, whatever you do, try to open a file, no files,
anything. :( I think you're right about reporting it upstream. I'll try to do
that.
Comment 4 Stefan Schweizer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-16 04:38:39 UTC
unfortunately we cant debug anything for binary-only-pkges :(
