Description Josh Nichols (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-06-24 12:20:44 UTC
I get the following errors when trying to merge sys-libs/ss-1.37 (a dependency
of e2fsprogs)

* checking 10 files for package collisions
existing file /usr/bin/mk_cmds is not owned by this package
existing file /usr/lib/libss.a is not owned by this package
existing file /usr/lib/libss.so is not owned by this package
existing file /usr/share/ss/ct_c.awk is not owned by this package
existing file /usr/share/ss/ct_c.sed is not owned by this package
existing file /usr/include/ss/ss.h is not owned by this package
existing file /usr/include/ss/ss_err.h is not owned by this package
existing file /usr/share/man/man1/mk_cmds.1.gz is not owned by this package
* spent 0.0104970932007 seconds checking for file collisions
* This package is blocked because it wants to overwrite
* files belonging to other packages (see messages above).
* If you have no clue what this is all about report it
* as a bug for this package on http://bugs.gentoo.org

I believe this is similar to the bug #96967 I just filed, in that these are
packages that once were part of e2fsprogs.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. (have e2fsprogs-1.35-r1 installed) FEATURES=collision-protect emerge ss

Does running emerge unmerge e2fsprogs && emerge e2fsprogs solve the problem?
