I *STILL* have this problem. I'd like to get some more detailed answers where/how this comes from, as I've tried all the upgrade instructions out there for 2004.3 -> 2005.0, removed and reinstalled the emul-linux* stuff, but everytime my emerge glibc fails with these @GLIBCPRIVATE stuff unresolvable. swarte-vlos ~ # emerge info Portage 2.0.51.22-r1 (default-linux/amd64/2005.0, gcc-3.4.3, glibc-2.3.4.2004110 2-r1, 2.6.11-gentoo-r9 x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.11-gentoo-r9 x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+ Gentoo Base System version 1.6.12 ccache version 2.3 [enabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.5 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.8 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.5 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.18 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r1 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-mtune=k8 -march=athlon64 -O2 -pipe" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/share /config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kd e/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/default s/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/web2c /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-mtune=k8 -march=athlon64 -O2 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig buildpkg candy ccache distlocks nosandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://10.1.3.10/gentoo/ ftp://10.1.2.10/gentoo/ ftp://ftp.is.co. za/linux/distributions/gentoo ftp://gentoo.chem.wisc.edu/gentoo/ http://gentoo.m irrors.pair.com/" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X a52 aac aalib acpi alsa amd64 ao apache2 arts berkdb bitmap-fonts bluetoo th bzip2 bzlib cdda cddb cdio cdparanoia cdr cpudetection crypt css csv cups cur l curlwrappers dar32 dar64 db2 dba dbus dbx dga dio doc dts dv dvb dvd dvdcss dv dr dvdread ecc eds emul-linux-x86 encode esd extensions fam fame fastcgi ffmpeg firefox flac font-server foomaticdb fortran ftp gcj gd gdbm gif gimpprint glibc gnokii gnome gnutls gphoto2 gpm gssapi gstreamer gtk ieee1394 imagemagick imlib ipv6 jack java jp2 jpeg ldap libdsk libsamplerate libwww lzo lzw lzw-tiff mad mn g motif mozdevelop mozilla moznomail mp3 mpeg mpeg4 mplayer mpm-leader mpm-metux mpm-peruser mpm-prefork mpm-threadpool mpm-worker msdav nas ncurses nls nptl nv idia objc ogg oggvorbis opengl openssl osc oss pam perl php png postgres ppds py thon qt rar rdesktop readline reiserfs rtc sdl slang sqlite ssl tcpd tetex theor a threads tiff transcode truetype truetype-fonts type1 type1-fonts ups urandom u sb userlocales vcd vidix vorbis webdav wma123 x86 xine xml xml2 xmms xpm xrandr xv xvid xvmc zlib userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, MAKEOPTS
