I cannot confirm this. I'm using rar-3.40 and dvdrip says that rar command is okay.. (But maybe that's just because I'm using dvdrip 0.52.5 from my own portage overlay?) Try to dump an older ebuild to a new version (i.e. 0.52.5) and only remove the perl/Storable dependecy (because this package no longer exists in portage).. It's time for a version dump in dvd::rip (in portage) anyway..
