Description Mark 2002-10-22 09:16:48 UTC
This bug coexists with bug 6980. Please take notice of this paragraph, that is
on the site http://corefonts.sourceforge.net/ :

> The original specfile only contains references to fonts covered by the "core
> fonts for the web" license agreement which, among other things, permits
> redistribution in unaltered form. However, microsoft also makes other fonts
> available as a part of their Internet Explorer product (notably the Tahoma
> font). The license agreement of Internet Explorer states that you need to have
> a Windows license to have the right to install Explorer or (as I understand
> it) any part of it.

So in other words, the rule is: You may only use Tahoma if you have a windows
license.

I noticed that by emerging xfree 4.2.1, Tahoma is installed automatically, but I
do not have a valid license and therefore may not use it.

It was your option to put "truetype" in your USE ? Its your option to
delete that font if you do not have a windows license?

Hey Azarah,
Yes, truetype is in my useflags, but isn't it a better idea to make it more
obvious to the end user?
Comment 3 Martin Schlemmer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-10-26 10:28:05 UTC
Guess. Either rip it, or add an additional USE flag. Ill check what the
other devs say about this.
