First noticed months ago when using xine-engine with amarok. Basically tyring to use libmad to decode mp3's from within applications which use libmad to build plugins (i.e xine-lib) causes scretch and crash. Probably same bug as : 85282 http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85282 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.emerge xine-lib 2. Open Application that uses xine lib as engine (i.e amarok) 3.Attempt to play mp3. Actual Results: Screetch and crash, can provide backtrace for amarok using xine-lib (basically culprit ends in xine-lib's libmad plugin Expected Results: screetch and crash app. Old bug, occues with svn versions of xine-lib or ebuilds. am going to attempt to compile libmad from svn and see what happens.
Note recompiling libmad (15.1b) with --enable-fpm=64bit (as is default in ebuild for sparc64) has no effect on bug.
Note madplay sucessfully is able to play mp3s from comand line. This problem seems to only occur in applications using libmad as a plugin like interface... so far it seems both rythmbox and xine-lib have this issue... Going to try reverting to an older version of madlib to see if that fixes the problem.
oneshot emerging the latest xine-lib (not currently earmarked stable on amd64 because of a a53 lib use flag) fixes the problem at least for amarok. Can someone test with other engines that build plugins from libmad. This should be passed onto the xine-lib maintainer, the currently marked xine-lib ebuild is broken on amd64 and should be flaged as such.
