Description Steve Arnold archtester gentoo-dev 2005-05-28 18:10:43 UTC
The gpsdrive ebuild currently provides its own gpsd, albeit an old fork. The
current gpsd now in portage has subsumed other gps daemons and is the preferred
gps data server for other clients such as ntp, kismet, and gpsdrive.

kismet should build against gpsd instead of gpsdrive (see bug 94334 for more
info).

Steve, since the mobile herd currently lacks a GPS maintainer (I'd love to
maintain our GPS packages, but I lack the hardware) you're free to make the
necessary changes yourself.

Should you want to become a member of the mobile herd and take over maintaining
our GPS packages, you will be most welcome... :)

Ooops. Sorry - the above comment was meant for bug #94334.
Comment 3 Henrik Brix Andersen 2005-06-12 13:55:45 UTC
We will need to have gpsd marked 'x86' and 'ppc' (like gpsdrive is) before
making the switch in kismet...

Please reopen this bug once gpsd is marked stable on the above mentioned ARCHs.
