This was first noted in comment 1 of bug 93764, but it seems to deserve its own bug entry. Subversion v1.2.0 no longer contains a valid vc-svn.el file, stating that it can now be found in the Emacs CVS tree. While the file is in the CVS tree, it has not made it into a Emacs v21 release yet, so the file no longer exists when both packages are installed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Emerge emacs-21.4 or emacs-21.4-r1 2. Emerge subversion-1.2.0 with "emacs" USE flag on 3. Start Emacs Actual Results: An Emacs startup error when loading /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/subversion/vc-svn.el ("http:// savannah.gnu.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs/emacs/emacs/lisp/vc-svn.el is the new canonical location of vc- svn.el, in the FSF Emacs tree.") Expected Results: No Emacs startup error; ability to use Emacs VC to control a Subversion checkout
