Gimp worked fine for me some time ago, but opening it today explodes in lots of "gimp-org-help Message"s: >Could not open 'https://docs.gimp.org/2.10/en/gimp-help.xml' for reading: >Operation not supported > >Perhaps you are missing GIO backends and need to install GVFS? > >Message repeated x times. Reproducible: Always

Actually started even with media-gfx/gimp-2.10.36 (which worked just fine some time ago).
Do you have the gnome-base/gvfs package being installed? What Desktop environment do you use?

Actually, as in simalar issues, the installation of gnome-base/gvfs should resolve the issue. This dependency is installed for media-gfx/gimp with USE="gnome".
