I have several mail folders. If I change to a folder, move the vertical scroll of the email list to some postition, then change to an other folder ,then change back to the original one, the scroll will be restored to where I left it, no matter if I moved it while in the other folder. Yet, when I start Evolution the scroll is always postioned on top of the list, not where I left it. This only happens on startup, if after startup I move to an other folder and then back, the scroll will be restored to where it was the last time I used Evolution. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Start Evolution 2.Go to mail folder A and move the vertical scroll of the mail list to some pos 3.Close Evolution 4.Start Evolution, the current folder is A, the scroll is at the top 5.Go to folder B 6.Go to folder A, the scroll pos is restored to where it was when we shut Evolution down in step 3 Actual Results: On step 4 the scroll is always at the top Expected Results: On step 4 the scroll should be where it was on steps 2,3 .The information is obviously stored somewhere since we can restore the correct position after steps 5 and 6 Portage 2.0.51.22-r1 (default-linux/x86/2005.0, gcc-3.4.3-20050110, glibc-2.3.5-r0, 2.6.11-gentoo-r9 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.11-gentoo-r9 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.6.12 dev-lang/python: 2.3.5 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.8 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.5 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.18 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium4 -mtune=pentium4 -msse2 -fomit-frame-pointer -momit-leaf-frame-pointer -mfpmath=sse -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/web2c /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium4 -mtune=pentium4 -msse2 -fomit-frame-pointer -momit-leaf-frame-pointer -mfpmath=sse -pipe -fvisibility-inlines-hidden" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.ITDNet.net/gentoo" LANG="en_US.utf8" LC_ALL="en_US.utf8" LINGUAS="en" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X aac acl acpi alsa apache2 avi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts bonobo cdr crypt cups curl doc dvd dvdr eds emboss encode flac foomaticdb gd gdbm gif gnome gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 guile hal howl imagemagick imlib ipv6 ithreads java jpeg junit kde kdeenablefinal ldap libg++ libwww mad mikmod mmap mmx motif mozilla mp3 mpeg mysql ncurses nls nptl nvidia ogg oggvorbis opengl pam pdflib perl pic plotutils png postgres pthreads python qt quicktime readline sdl session sharedmem slang spell sse sse2 ssl svga symlink tcltk tcpd tetex threads tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode usb vorbis xml xml2 xv zlib linguas_en userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LDFLAGS
This is a usability issue (choice?) that should be reported upstream, please do so and leave the buglink here. Afaik evolution currently has no key for saving this kind of information.
