Description Jonas Stein gentoo-dev 2024-08-08 19:54:29 UTC
One developer maintaining the mastodon channel is not feasible as we found out recently. In order to increase the redundancy we would like to set up an alias
mastodon@gentoo.org including the developers maintaining the mastodon channel (alice and jstein).

Mastodon has no multiuser capabilities so we have to use a shared mail alias and share the credentials. But I think this is still common for many other services and is elegantly solved with the alias.

Reproducible: Always

mastodon@ is created; points to alicef & jstein.

but i'm wondering if it should also include PR alias.

I think PR is OK with keeping site specific aliases limited to only the unique PR members needed for overseeing those specific sites/services. That said, I'm thinking it may be nice to prefix all PR-related aliases with a designation/identifier to help them be more discoverable. I imagine aliases such as these could balloon eventually...

E.g. this would be "pr-mastodon@gentoo.org" or something similarly searchable.

We don't exactly have a 'master list' anywhere and I'm thinking it would be unwise to publish half the credentials on wiki.g.o. ;)
