Description Alexander J Lee 2005-05-23 12:47:11 UTC
on a P4-class machine, the compiler tries to use a
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.4/libstdc++.la file.

that file does not exist in this architecture and compilation fails. a similar
file can be found on /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.5 though.

so I forced compilation, creating some symlinks:

1. cd /usr/lib/gcc-lib
2. ln -s i686-pc-linux-gnu i386-pc-linux-gnu
3. cd i386-pc-linux-gnu
4. ln -s 3.3.5 3.3.4

and issued "emerge enchant" again. compilation succeeded without further
problems. however, this workaround looks conceptually wrong.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge enchant

Actual Results:
the compilation failed, with the following message:

grep: /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.4/libstdc++.la: No such file or
directory
/bin/sed: can't read /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.4/libstdc++.la: No
such file or directory
libtool: link: `/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.4/libstdc++.la' is not a
valid libtool archive

make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/enchant-1.1.5/work/enchant-1.1.5/src'

Expected Results:
the compilation, instalation and ebuild merging should succeed without further
warnings.
