Description Dominic Battre 2005-05-20 22:26:56 UTC
A new version of poseidonCE is available. However, the ftp server
ftp://download.gentleware.biz/ offers only versions with installer, so it is not
sufficienct to rename the ebuild.

Thanks for your great work.

Comment 1 Dominic Battre 2005-05-20 22:31:24 UTC
sorry, from looking at the file name, I didn't realize that this is only a
release candidate.
Comment 2 Ikke 2005-06-07 13:50:25 UTC
Giving this a friendly bump, as 3.1 seems to be released, and 3.0.1 contains
some irritating bugs.
I can not provide an ebuild as I'm not familiar with java applications at all.

dev-util/poseidonCE-3.1.0.ebuild

I have slightly modified the ebuild so that future releases of Poseidon will
more likely be emergeable by simply copying this ebuild.

Re-assign.

Installed this in my overlay, digested it, and it installed flawlessly. The
application started just as it does in windows (expired licence). I was able to
automatically register the application using the form in the application. I was
also able to open and browse the examples. So, I'm throwing a works-for-me vote
out here.

Some feedback on the ebuild:

* Package name should probably be suffixed with -bin, since it is a binary package.
* RDEPEND should be on virtual/jre, not virtual/jdk.
* Installing all the bundled jars violates the Java policy
(http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/java/java-devel.xml). It will probably be a
little trickier since this is a binary package, but jars should be used from our
packages when possible. This would involve modifying RDEPEND, using jar-from
from the java-pkg.eclass, and possibly modifying poseidon.sh.
* eutils.eclass provides doicon for installing icons.
* It might be useful to have an example USE flag.
* Installing LICENSE.txt is unecessary.

In other news, it seems that 3.2.0 was released a couple of weeks ago.
Comment 7 Bel Zébute 2005-10-22 23:43:05 UTC
For 0.3.2, simply rename this ebuild. Worked flawlesly here. 8)

I think lots of ebuilds need that 'fix' but yes, it would be the right thing to do.

> * RDEPEND should be on virtual/jre, not virtual/jdk.
Agreed. I did a JAVA_HOME=/opt/blackdown-jre-1.4.2.02; poseidonCE and works
flawlessly.

what? Uhm ... I guess : )

Does this also create a menu entry (in Development for example)
The original 3.0.1 ebuild did this.

Renaming the 3.1.0 ebuild does indeed work with the latest 3.2.0 release. It
really should be commited to portage?

Summary should also be updated of this bug maybe.
