A new version of poseidonCE is available. However, the ftp server ftp://download.gentleware.biz/ offers only versions with installer, so it is not sufficienct to rename the ebuild. Thanks for your great work. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
sorry, from looking at the file name, I didn't realize that this is only a release candidate.
Giving this a friendly bump, as 3.1 seems to be released, and 3.0.1 contains some irritating bugs. I can not provide an ebuild as I'm not familiar with java applications at all.
Created attachment 61322 [details] dev-util/poseidonCE-3.1.0.ebuild I have slightly modified the ebuild so that future releases of Poseidon will more likely be emergeable by simply copying this ebuild.
Re-assign.
(In reply to comment #3) > Created an attachment (id=61322) [edit] > dev-util/poseidonCE-3.1.0.ebuild Installed this in my overlay, digested it, and it installed flawlessly. The application started just as it does in windows (expired licence). I was able to automatically register the application using the form in the application. I was also able to open and browse the examples. So, I'm throwing a works-for-me vote out here. emerge --info: Portage 2.0.53_rc4 (default-linux/amd64/2005.1, gcc-3.4.4, glibc-2.3.5-r2, 2.6.13-gentoo x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.13-gentoo x86_64 Dual Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 275 Gentoo Base System version 1.12.0_pre8 distcc 2.18.3 x86_64-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] ccache version 2.4 [enabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.4-r1, 2.4.2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.13 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.20 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64 ~amd64" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O3 -march=opteron -pipe" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib64/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/web2c /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O3 -march=opteron -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig buildpkg ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/gentoo" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="amd64 X Xaw3d a52 aac aalib acl acpi alsa apm arts async audiofile avi bash-completion berkdb bidi bitmap-fonts bl bzip2 cdparanoia cdr crypt cscope css cups curl dbus dga directfb dts dv dvb dvd dvdr dvdread edl eds emacs emboss encode esd fam fame fbcon ffmpeg flac foomaticdb fortran fuse gdbm gif gnome gnutls gphoto2 gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 guile hal howl ieee1394 imagemagick imlib ipv6 jack java javascript jpeg kde kdeenablefinal kerberos ldap lesstif libcaca libg++ libwww licaca lzo lzw lzw-tiff mad mikmod mjpeg mng motif mozilla mp3 mpeg mplayer musepack mysql ncurses nls nptl nsplugin odbc ogg oggvorbis opengl oss pam pda pdflib perl png postgres python qt quicktime readline real rtc samba sasl sblive sdl slang sndfile snmp spell ssl syslog tcltk tcpd tetex tga theora threads tidy tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode usb userlocales v4l v4l2 vcd vorbis win32codecs wmf xanim xine xinerama xml xml2 xmms xpm xprint xv xvid zlib userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, MAKEOPTS
Some feedback on the ebuild: * Package name should probably be suffixed with -bin, since it is a binary package. * RDEPEND should be on virtual/jre, not virtual/jdk. * Installing all the bundled jars violates the Java policy (http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/java/java-devel.xml). It will probably be a little trickier since this is a binary package, but jars should be used from our packages when possible. This would involve modifying RDEPEND, using jar-from from the java-pkg.eclass, and possibly modifying poseidon.sh. * eutils.eclass provides doicon for installing icons. * It might be useful to have an example USE flag. * Installing LICENSE.txt is unecessary. In other news, it seems that 3.2.0 was released a couple of weeks ago.
For 0.3.2, simply rename this ebuild. Worked flawlesly here. 8)

I think lots of ebuilds need that 'fix' but yes, it would be the right thing to do. > * RDEPEND should be on virtual/jre, not virtual/jdk. Agreed. I did a JAVA_HOME=/opt/blackdown-jre-1.4.2.02; poseidonCE and works flawlessly. > * Installing all the bundled jars violates the Java policy > (http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/java/java-devel.xml). Does this also create a menu entry (in Development for example) The original 3.0.1 ebuild did this. > * It might be useful to have an example USE flag. > * Installing LICENSE.txt is unecessary. > > > In other news, it seems that 3.2.0 was released a couple of weeks ago. Renaming the 3.1.0 ebuild does indeed work with the latest 3.2.0 release. It really should be commited to portage? Summary should also be updated of this bug maybe.
