Our libguestfs, 1.48.6-r1, has numerous outstanding bugs, including python-3.12 compat, https://bugs.gentoo.org/929308 Upstream's 1.52.x is marked stable, with v1.52.1 the latest in that branch. Unsure how many of the current issues that would resolve.
Probably it was not updated because there is no maintainer. ;)

Python 3.13 support added Without KVM acceleration, the tests take a long time (On a 8-core 11th gen Intel processor with hyperthreading it takes 2 to 3 hours to run the test suite). One of the tests alone have 600 sub-tests and takes 30-60 minutes to complete just that one test. This can worked around by adding a strategic "addwrite /dev/kvm" and the proper /dev/kvm permissions so Portage can access it (for testing only, not for production use!). Or turn off the sandboxes, however, some tests will succeed when they would normally fail in the sandbox, so I don't recommend it for development purposes. With KVM, the whole testsuite runs in 5-10 minutes.
