Output from a sample session below. I don't know what caused this misbehavior, but it seems to affect xine too. Some package versions of mine media-video/mplayer-1.0_pre7 media-video/xine-ui-0.99.3-r1 media-libs/xine-lib-1.0.1-r1 media-libs/win32codecs-20050412 mplayer and xine-lib were compiled with win32codecs use-flag enabled. well it can actually play wmv9 with win32codecs use flag
ooops ... sorry i've haven't noticed that you have this flag set :( i'm sorry for misunderstanding
Exact thing here (all of a sudden, I might add). I'm not able to track which package emerge could have caused this.
Same problem here on my brand new x86 gentoo. Most of my testing was done with mplayer-1.0_pre7 and win32codecs-20050412, but I think I noticed similar problems with mplayer-1.0_pre6, xine and win32codecs-20050216 (it was the reason I tried the ~x86 versions out). I'll downgrade to re-check whether the stable versions _really_ didn't worked, but I can't see why they would ... (well I can't see why they don't either :) )
I confirm it doesn't work with mplayer-1.0_pre6-r4 and win32codecs-20050216 neither. I don't know if it's relevant, but I thought I would post my package.keywords as it's a bit tuned (for better utf8 support): bruno@roggeri /etc/portage $ cat package.keywords =sys-apps/baselayout-1.11.12 =sys-libs/readline-5.0-r2 =sys-apps/sysvinit-2.86 =app-shells/bash-3.0-r11 #media-video/mplayer #media-libs/win32codecs could these have an influence ?
The issue is due a glitch in a baselayout version. remount /dev with default options (no noexec) and it will run again *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 92921 ***
