Plasmashell crashes on wayland and x11 with core dump. My system is a laptop with external monitor attached, build-in display disabled. After unlock, if system was with external monitor turned off for duration of screen lock, plasma shell crashes in 50% of causes. Can't reproduce with plasmashell spawned with --replace. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Turn off display. (workaround for kscreen bug that prevents lock screen from turning monitor off) 2. Wait until screen locks. 3. Turn on monitor. 4. Unlock monitor. Actual Results: Roughly in 50% of all boots, plasmashell crashes, makes a core dump. Screen is black, wallpaper is gone, panel is gone. Krunner and other applications work. Expected Results: Plasma works, panel is on screen, wallpaper is visible. Rebuild without Qt6/Frameorks/Plasma without lto and reproduce the crash, then file this bug upstream please.
Well, those are two bugs! There's crash without core that produced error log and is worth reporting upstream. Upstream bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=483825
Please test with 6.0.90.
Created attachment 894562 [details] sddm log of wayland session, 6.0.90, truncated It still happens. There are also some cores with X11 session, but plasmashell doesn't disappear. I think it's related to sleep? In dmesg there's a log of laptop going to sleep at 19:18:07 and then resuming from sleep at 19:18:12
Without sleep it still crashes, but restarts itself. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=487699
Upstream thinks this is solved in qt 6.8, not released yet. Though https://code.qt.io/cgit/qt/qtreleasenotes.git/about/qt/6.7.1/release-note.md is only 10 days old, maybe it contains the fix, where you using 6.7.1 already ?
It stopped crashing with 6.7.1, yes.
