Just stated to move an openrc system to merged-usr but I cannot find an suitable profile to use. Got default/linux/amd64/17.1/desktop and all merged-user profile are for systemd eselect profile list | grep merged-usr [7] default/linux/amd64/17.1/desktop/gnome/systemd/merged-usr (stable) [9] default/linux/amd64/17.1/desktop/plasma/systemd/merged-usr (stable) [10] default/linux/amd64/17.1/desktop/systemd/merged-usr (stable) [15] default/linux/amd64/17.1/no-multilib/systemd/merged-usr (dev) [16] default/linux/amd64/17.1/no-multilib/systemd/selinux/merged-usr (exp) [17] default/linux/amd64/17.1/systemd/merged-usr (stable) [18] default/linux/amd64/17.1/systemd/selinux/merged-usr (exp) [20] default/linux/amd64/17.1/systemd/clang/merged-usr (exp) [61] default/linux/amd64/17.0/x32/systemd/merged-usr (exp)
It will be done for upcoming but unreleased 23.0.

Just make a custom profile for it? https://leo3418.github.io/2021/01/16/gentoo-merge-usr.html describes how to do it before profiles too.
