When a command line like the following is used, webapp-config errors out with "webapp-config: error: argument -pd/--prune-database: expected one argument": root# webapp-config -p -h my.host.name -d element -I element 1.11.57 The workaround is to use "--pretend" instead of "-p". Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install a webapp with USE="vhosts". (in my case, www-apps/element) 2. Run the suggested install command given by the elogs (replacing the hostname with something sensible), but add the "-p" switch to the beginning of the argument list first. Actual Results: webapp-config detects an incorrect switch (-pd/--prune-database) and errors out. Expected Results: webapp-config should have interpreted the switch as "--pretend". This is my first time using webapp-config, so I naturally wanted to look to see what it was going to do, as I already have a working virtual host setup that I didn't want to be messed with, so I added -p to the beginning of the argument list, as suggested by the webapp-config(8) man page.

Looking at the code, the problem appears to be that the man page is wrong. The man page says: > --bug-report, --pretend, -p However, the code itself (webapp-config/WebappConfig/config.py) shows that the switch should be upper-case: > info_opts.add_argument('-P', > '--pretend', > action='store_true', > help = 'Output information about what webapp-con' > 'fig would do, then quit without actually doing ' > 'it') Using the upper-case version of the switch works as expected. Since this problem is different from what I thought it was at first, I'm changing the title of this bug as well as the importance. However, if I may, I would *strongly* prefer the switch to be lower-case in order to be consistent with emerge and other similar tools.
