Comment 4 Alin Năstac (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-05-16 23:09:08 UTC
judging after descriptions found on homepages, gtinsms (bug #92119) and
galicesms (bug #92123) seems to implement same functionality.

is it true?

they both let you send 10 sms/day if you've got an ADSL contract with tim
(italian provider). But if you subscribed the contract before a cartain date
(that i don't know) you would use a certain Internet page (Communicator+ in
www.virgilio.it) and you would log in with username@tin.it. These "older"
subscribers would use gtinsms (or commandline tinsms available in the same site)
where laters should use galicesms because (I think) they've got different
Internet service pages and they are known as username@aliceadsl.it. Hope I'm
clear enough
Comment 6 Alin Năstac (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-05-18 22:03:01 UTC
I'm sorry, but you should choose one of them. I will not add 2 sms senders that
use the same service - there are too many sms senders in portage.
Comment 7 onip 2005-05-19 06:08:12 UTC
but they are different services. They are from the same provider and they both
allow you to send 10 sms/day, but they've got different target. For example I
can ( and I do ;-) ) use gtinsms, but i cannot use galicesms because my login
info (username and password choosen at adsl purchasing time) wouldn't fit alice
sms service requirements. In the same way many user would use galicesms but
won't be able to use gtinsms. In other words they refer to different web-pages
and that's why they are not the same thing (IMHO, obiouvsly...).
Comment 8 Alin Năstac (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-05-19 06:37:41 UTC
please contact the upstream and ask if they could incorporate both services into
one program. I could not do it because I don't speak Italian.

please understand my point of view. we have several sms programs, most of them
being specialized on a single provider. I cannot throw in portage more than 1
package/provider.

Can you update to version 1.3.1?
Old versions not work anymore since june 2006.
I renamed the ebuild to 1.3.1 and it works
Thanks.
