The documentation says java 1.5.x is masked because many packages won't compile
with 1.5.x.

It'd be useful to have a comprehensible list, firstly to try to upgrade the packages, and secondly to be able to migrate when none of these packages are going to be used.

that's why we have the tracker, it was intented for users to post their "does not work" information there. if somebody opens a bug about "package xyz doesnt work with the jdk1.5" we mark it as a dup of that bug to keep track of this problems. once we have the possibility of merge time switching of java vms we're going to test all packages. the tracker's bug : bug 79206
