Change log states packaged bumped to: "libmimedir 0.4: 2005-Mar-03 * Returning to initial state after parsing the incomplete data." Note: They changed Synce version from 0.90 to 0.91 over this change. Using the 0.3 ebuild it compiled/installed OK for me, though I haven't tried it out yet with my PDA. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
If libmimedir-0.4 is built with -fPIC, synce-0.9.1 compiles & works for amd64 I'll attache the ebuild & path that I used to build libmimedir-0.4, but I don't know if its the best way to cause the library to be built with -fPIC I have also added comments to other bugs relating to bumbing synce version to 0.9.1 as it would be nice to see this all marked ~amd64

Update FYI: If you go here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=30550&package_id=22569 you'll see there are more packages associated with the update to Synce-0.9.1 then libmimedir: synce-dccm, synce-librapi2, synce-libsynce, synce-rra, and synce-serial. I just updated the DEPEND stuff in those ebuilds and the one for Synce and added them to /usr/local/portage/app-pda. I've been running it for more then a month now and no problems.
Indeed - a search for "ALL synce" will show all the relevant bugs.
