As per the Summary, cd audio playback using the xmms-cdaudio plugin only plays back 4 seconds of a cd before xmms hangs and has to be manually killed. This happens on every audio cd I've tried. If I emerge the xmms-cdread plugin, it can play audio cd's OK - and strangely, the cdaudio plugin appears to start working as well (I say appears - with both plugins enabled in prefs, audio cd's play OK when I go right click -> Play -> Play AudioCD, which afaik uses the xmms-cdaudio plugin, although possibly xmms-cdread is doing the actual playback). Both plugins are configured to use digital audio extraction (I don't physically have an analogue cable connecting the cd to my soundcard header). CD drive is an IDE NEC dvd writer. If I unmerge xmms-cdread, xmms-cdaudio goes back to 4 secs. playback, then a hang. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge xmms-cdaudio 2. play audiocd 3. Actual Results: xmms hangs Expected Results: work. emerge info Portage 2.0.51.19 (default-linux/x86/2005.0, gcc-3.4.3-20050110, glibc-2.3.5-r0, 2.6.11-ck4-test i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.11-ck4-test i686 AMD Athlon(tm) Gentoo Base System version 1.6.11 Python: dev-lang/python-2.3.5 [2.3.5 (#1, Apr 22 2005, 17:50:56)] dev-lang/python: 2.3.5 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.5 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r8 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.14 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -mtune=athlon-xp -O2 -mfpmath=sse -fomit-frame-pointer -momit-leaf-frame-pointer -fprefetch-loop-arrays -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -mtune=athlon-xp -O2 -mfpmath=sse -fomit-frame-pointer -momit-leaf-frame-pointer -fprefetch-loop-arrays -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/pub/Mirrors/gentoo/" LINGUAS="en_GB" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://foucault/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 3dnow 3dnowex X aac acpi avi berkdb bitmap-fonts cdparanoia cdr crypt cups curl dga divx4linux dvd dvdr dvdread emboss encode fam ffmpeg flac foomaticdb fortran gdbm geoip gif gimpprint gnome gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 imagemagick imlib joystick jpeg kde libg++ libwww mikmod mmx mmx2 mng motif mozilla mp3 mpeg ncurses nls nptl nptlonly nvidia ogg oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl png ppds python quicktime readline real rtc sandbox sdl slang sndfile spell sse ssl svg tcpd theora tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode usb userlocales vorbis win32codecs wmf xine xml2 xmms xprint xscreensaver xv xvid xvmc zlib linguas_en_GB" Unset: ASFLAGS, CBUILD, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS
Maybe there should be a dependency between the two since I also could not play a cd without both xmms-cdread and xmms-cdaudio. Wonder why? Probably had something to do with splitting off all the plugins. Bet something was missed there. JM2C
I can't reproduce this bug. If you still have this issue it would be great if you come up with a patch to fix it.
