No longer needed by thermald-2, discontinued by upstream
Note that some hardware (e.g. my laptop :-) ) seems not to work with thermald's adaptive mode and still requires this utility. I'm not sure whether that's my fault (a missing kernel option, maybe), a BIOS issue or a problem with the adaptive mode itself, but dptfxtract may still be needed despite its obsolescence. I will open an upstream bug about this and see what they have to say.
PEBKAC. It really was a kernel config issue, I was missing CONFIG_INT340X_THERMAL. The thermald userspace daemon doesn't specify what is missing via runtime error messages, but its README mentions this driver. I'd say it's not worth it to keep this utility around just to allow users to use a slightly smaller kernel. Apologies for the noise.
