Description Chin Yee 2005-04-17 06:37:19 UTC
Did a emerge -uD. gtk+-2.6.7, xmms-1.2.10-r14, xmms-oss-1.2.10-r1, xmms-alsa-1.2.10-r2 were among the package where updates are available. gtk+2.6.7 emerge successful without any error. However, when emerging xmms and its plugins, it failed with configure: error: *** GTK+ >= 1.2.2 not installed. Re-emerging =gtk+-1.2.10-r11 did not help. The emerge result is showed in the attached file "emergeresult".

In the emerge output, it says:

!!! Please attach the config.log to your bug report:
!!! /var/tmp/portage/xmms-1.2.10-r14/work/xmms-1.2.10/config.log

Please provide that.

Comment 9 Jeremy Huddleston (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-02 16:33:39 UTC
The failure in configure comes from a bug in /usr/lib/libgtk-1.2.so.0...
reassigning.

configure:21101: checking for GTK - version >= 1.2.2
configure:21207: i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -o conftest -Os -mcpu=pentium3 -pipe
-funroll-loops -fomit-frame-pointer -Wl,--as-needed -I/usr/include/gtk-1.2
-I/usr/include/glib-1.2 -I/usr/lib/glib/include -D_REENTRANT conftest.c
-L/usr/lib -lgtk -lgdk -rdynamic -lgmodule -lgthread -lglib -lpthread -ldl -lXi
-lXext -lX11 -lm >&5
configure:21210: $? = 0
configure:21212: ./conftest
./conftest: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libgtk-1.2.so.0: undefined symbol:
gdk_root_window
Comment 10 Leonardo Boshell (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-07-02 16:50:11 UTC
Known problem due to the '--as-needed' flag. Strangely, in this case the
reporter has it in the CFLAGS var, not LDFLAGS, but it's the same problem.
