From the log: fchownat() of /sys/kernel/security/tpm0/binary_bios_measurements failed: Read-only file system I have both a systemd and openrc vm and in both, the default for securityfs is rw. I'm guessing this is something specific to the tinderbox config?

I'm guessing this is something specific to the tinderbox config? Indeed: https://github.com/toralf/tinderbox/blob/main/bin/bwrap.sh#L151 OTOH is an ebuild allowed to write to / ?
Is this the reason the package leaves a /var/tmp/portage/app-crypt/tpm2-tss-4.0.1/imageno/tpm2-tss.conf behind after what looks like a successful compilation/installation?
No, that's a different problem. Create a new bug for that.
