I am able to reproduce this one only if I restore dev-libs/libevent-2.1.12 back from commit b885790c3a76f426aed746cbbf1fd433d9d43451 (the state which was used in this report) and build it with USE=-threads. The threads are now enabled unconditionally, see bug 869722. However, I cannot find what USE flags were actually set for libevent in any of attached file, therefore reopen the bug if I was wrong.
dev-libs/libevent[-ssl] also triggers this.
