Description Risto A. Paju 2005-04-02 13:47:46 UTC
My machine is a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V2020 laptop with Intel 855GME chipset. The ALSA modules is snd_intel8x0.

Ecasound does work with this alsa-lib.

mplayer, xmms and alsa-lib-1.0.9-rc2 work fine on my desktop which is a VIA EPIA-MII (snd_via82xx).

Kernel dmesg entry of mplayer is here:

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install alsa-lib-1.0.9-rc2
2. Install xmms and/or mplayer
3. Run mplayer or xmms with ALSA output
4. Start playing a song (wav, mp3 and ogg vorbis tested)

Actual Results:
Segmentation fault. Program exits, but the process is left in the background. It
is terminated with ordinary kill (TERM signal).

Expected Results:
Played music.

Are you using in-kernel modules, or alsa-driver ones? If alsa-driver, which version do you have loaded?
