texlive exists in version 2022 for long time now. However, gentoo still deliver version 2021. Even if that version has several bugs.

I already suffer of two bugs (not reported here):
1. Some documents does not compile with pdflatex when font libertinus is in use. (Something with \item)
2. There is some issue about a missing lbts_oeoa22.enc that should not exists anymore, even in 2021 but is referenced somewhere...
