Running xmms with ALSA configured as output plugin and then opening a page with embedded flash animations will segfault xmms. Example Page: http://www.ballz.de/ This doesn't happen when OSS is selected as output plugin. Soundcard is a Creative Soundblaster Live (Value?), PCI, emu10k Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. open xmms with ALSA configured as output plugin 2. open http://www.ballz.de/ in Opera browser with Macromedia Flash plugin enabled 3. xmms segfaults root@lisa:~>emerge -pv opera xmms xmms-alsa These are the packages that I would merge, in order: Calculating dependencies ...done! I can confirm this. I'm also using a Sound Blaster Live (Platinum). I get similar symptoms from mpg123 and xine. Though mplayer seems unaffected. Masking alsa 1.0.8 and downgrading to 1.0.7 solves the problem.
I believe my issue may be related. I am using xfce 4.2, and the xfce4-panel app crashes from the xfce4-mixer app segfaulting when I receive a IM message (which plays a sound) in gaim. I downgraded alsa-lib to 1.0.7 like AC #1 and it seems to have fixed it as well.
Please try media-plugins/xmms-alsa-1.2.10-r2
Same problem with media-plugins/xmms-alsa-1.2.10-r2 and opera
Ok, please report this upstream at http://bugtrack.alsa-project.org and report the bug number to me so I can track it.
