Description Michael Cummings (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-23 10:03:56 UTC
It's come to my attention that we are offering ebuilds for perl modules that are also installed by the core perl install, which wouldn't be a problem except that in some cases the ebuild is marked stable only for a version older than what is installed by perl, which results in the core version being trumped.

Can you please mark test and mark stable dev-perl/CGI-3.05 (or greater :) ) - this is the version that is shipped with perl 5.8.5 and 5.8.6, both of which are stable for your platforms already (which means this module was built and installed in the perl core).

Just to explain why we have ebuilds for these modules - apps come along that require certain versions, and in order to make sure everyone with whatever version of perl they have installed can emerge the app, we provide ebuilds for these core modules so that everyone can be up to speed without forcing an upgrade of perl first.
