I've known about this for a long time, I've just never got around to figuring it out. Strangely enough, someone else reported it to me just this week. Basically glibc won't build with -march/-mcpu other than 68000 or 68020. Please use 68020 in this case.

Is this still the case?

Nice, but I'm wondering whether they've considered the 68030 case, which is what I usually build for. I've asked on their bug report.
